Wylie & Bisset are one of Scotland’s longest established larger independent firms of chartered accountants, providing a full range of services to clients including audit (both internal and external), accountancy and valued added, corporate and personal taxation, business advisory, corporate finance and consultancy services. The firm operates a dedicated insolvency department which provides debt solutions to both consumers and businesses.

About the job
The role will involve working on external audits of a wide range of clients, including, public, education, charity and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning audit assignments
  • Supervising and reviewing work of more junior team members whilst performing more technical fieldwork tasks
  • Liaising with clients
  • Taking ownership of all assignments from planning through to completion
  • Any other appropriate tasks, as directed

About you
Successful candidates must be able to work within a professional office environment across our client base. You must hold appropriate professional qualifications (or be qualified by experience) and must have significant audit experience. You will have the skills to take the lead audit senior role and you must be confident in liaising with our clients across all sectors. You will play a support role to the manager(s) and partner(s).

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Significant audit experience
    – ideally, a minimum of 1 year PQ experience, 4-6 years of experience
    – ideally, experience of medium to large sized company audit file work
  • Accounts preparation: must have an excellent understanding and proven experience in this area and be comfortable with the preparation of financial statements and appropriate disclosures
  • Appropriate awareness of ISAs and FRSs and technically up to date

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Professional qualification, eg, CA, ACA, ACCA
  • Charity sector accounts preparation and audit experience
  • Further education sector audit experience
  • Some internal audit experience

Other Information
Based: The role will be based at our Bath Street offices
Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri
